AMETHYST BEGINNING

December, 2004 I retired from a 32 year teaching career in Florida and moved West to Arizona. I was a widow and moved to AZ to be close to my sister and her family. I was now ready to pursue fulltime my love of dogs, and in particular Labrador Retrievers, with my emphasis on conformation and breeding. The purpose of my breeding was to get my next show dog…one who possessed the best qualities of a

well-bred Labrador in both physical appearance and temperament. I wanted Labradors that were of good substance with a

strong blocky head and a thick otter tail…standing totally balanced with proper angulation, short back with a good reach

of neck, and double coat. Equally, if not more important is the value of a kind and gentle temperament with a soft and

loving expression. Match these qualities with intelligence where learning is a joy for both the Lab and his/her human.

For 18 years I enjoyed a full 2nd career…I will share with you I was so proud of both my breeding program and the

successes my dogs had in the show ring. My Evee girl…MBISS MBOSS GCHB CH Amethyst Twas The Night After…

took me on a ride I never even dreamed I would get to go on with all her successes…now she is almost 14 years

old and laying here by my side as I write.However, each year the arthritis in my back took a bigger bite out of

my back until the last 2 years it became very difficult to do all that I needed and wanted to do in the care of

my Labradors and in breeding puppies. I officially retired from my active show and breeding program in

the summer of 2022…But wait one minute…I am not completely retired after all…let me introduce you to…

When I retired I sold my home and kennel, gave away most of my breeding supplies and show equipment. Fortunately for me…the puppies that were bred in the last few years who I wanted to keep for future show dogs all went to live with good friends for co-owning.

I am truly amazed with how fantastic the Amethyst dogs that are now out showing and how well they are doing….making me

very proud of them…both the dogs and their main Mommies and Daddies. Recently I realized I needed to get my website

back up and running again so that I can keep up to date on how the current gang of young Amethyst Labradors are doing…

Maverick, Catherine, Spencer, Aurora, Redford, Bella, Beyonce, Margo, Yoda and Moxxi…and we have a new
